Our designer for the day… Vanessa Shanahan

This month, our designer for the day Vanessa Shanahan made us this wonderfully kitsch greeting that you’ll love recreating with your own PaperCrafter kit.

Vanessa Shanahan's greeting

“I felt very excited and over the moon. It’s nice to know that readers will see what I make, and it will hopefully inspire them to do the same”

My favourite kit bits

“I loved the elements in this kit. The pink and white twine is a lovely summery thread that immediately made me think of strawberries and cream!”

"The patterned papers are great and can be used on cards or to cover cardboard boxes for pretty storage" "The flags made me think of bank holidays and the stripy straws reminded me of picnics in the summer!"

Grow in love

“I found it easier to secure the twine to the blank by running it back and forward over my glue stick”

1 Take the yellow card blank from your PaperCrafter kit and measure three 20cm strips of pink and white twine. Attach to the blank from the top of the card and at equal lengths apart.

2 Select the spotty olive green patterned paper and cut two 2cm x 12.5cm strips for the card border, and two 1.5cm x 8cm strips to make the roof. Stick these elements onto the card as pictured, so that the two eaves overlap the edge of the card.

3 Snip out three birds and a squirrel from the woodland animal paper, and affix to the card as pictured. Snip three butterflies from the butterfly patterned paper and secure to the card.

4 Cut a blue flower from the multi-coloured floral paper and stick underneath the roof centrally. Next, cut a leafy branch out and stick to the bottom of the card.

5 Cut four leaves from the blue and leaf patterned paper and stick underneath the bird in the middle of the card. Snip a squirrel, two acorns and an oak leaf, and affix over the right-hand border.

6 Snip the Grow in love sentiment and two 8cm lengths of pink and white twine. Attach the thread on either side of the blue flower and stick the sentiment underneath. To finish, secure the last brown bird to the top right of the card.
